Seafood Degustation @ Aqualinea

I recently ventured to a part of town I rarely visit, Teneriffe. It is right next to the Valley / New Farm and yet I’ve never had a reason to visit until a friend organised a Seafood Degustation outing to Aqualinea. Aqualinea was (and still is!) offering a 4 course seafood degustation for $35 which seemed too good to miss.

The restaurant is located next to the riverwalk which has a nice view and good breeze. It was quite empty when we arrived but what can you expect on a Tuesday night at 6pm? However, as the night progressed, a few more groups of people came in.

The first dish was a Freshly Shucked Oyster with Lime and a Grilled Moreton Bay Bug Tail. Both were fresh and appetizing – a good start to the meal.

This was followed by 2 Seared Scallops with a dash of Pumpkin Puree. Again, I couldn’t complain about the freshness of the scallops, just wished there were more 🙂

We were served a palette cleanser as a break between second and third dish. I don’t recall what this was but unfortunately it was a bit too sickly sweet to fulfill its purpose. After drinking this, we ended up having to wash the sweetness down with a glass of water.

Next, we had Scallops and Prawn Risotto, Kaffir Lime and Coconut Cream and Fresh Coconut Shavings. Do not be deceived by the plain and dull look of this dish, it was actually very flavoursome. The coconut shavings also gave some texture to the usually smooth risotto.

Finally, the last dish of the day was a Pan-Seared Barramundi with Snow Peas and a Ball of Risotto. By this stage, we were already quite full and definitely did not have any more room for risotto. I skipped the risotto and went straight for the fish and vegetables.

This seafood degustation deal is only available from Tuesday to Thursday at $35 for the 4 course seafood degustation or $65 with matching wines. It was really good value for money as you get to try a range of dishes. All the seafood was cooked well and fresh. Needless to say, I had an enjoyable night with the ladies.
